VBT Survey

Hey everyone, my friend and colleague Ivan Jukic are conducting a survey in which he is looking at the perceived barriers to implementing velocity-based resistance training methodology, and common practices among coaches utilizing velocity-based resistance training.

Despite the well-documented benefits of monitoring repetition velocity during resistance training, doing so requires the use of valid and reliable velocity measuring devices (e.g., linear position transducers). While the cost of these devices has decreased in recent years, they are still not affordable to many. Even if velocity measuring devices are available, their use with groups of people can be an impractical task (e.g., team sports, group sessions). However, these are only some of the potential concerns with implementing velocity-based resistance training in practice. Moreover, coaches can implement velocity-based resistance training methodology in their work with athletes in many different ways and for different purposes. Unfortunately, practices adopted by coaches with regard to velocity-based resistance training are not well-documented. Therefore, we aim to get a better understanding of the perceived barriers to velocity-based resistance training among coaches, as well as examine their currently adopted practices related to velocity-based resistance training.

With your help, we hope to fill these gaps in knowledge with this study. In that regard, we are looking for coaches, sports scientists, physiotherapists, athletic trainers, and other professionals who are managing the resistance raining of athletes of any level and sport. Please don’t feel discouraged to participate if you’re currently not using velocity-based resistance training methodology in your work with athletes as we would like to know your thoughts on this matter as well (this is especially the case if you were considering it at some point but got discouraged for some reason). The survey should take anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes, and it’s completely anonymous.

If you are interested in participating, please click on the button below. Also, feel free to share the survey with others.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Blast From the Past

Blast From the Past These are the two old articles I wrote in 2005 and 2006. Yes I know, time flies. The Overview of Periodization Methods for Resistance Training was published on EliteFTS (I think couple of times) and was nominated for article of the year (have no clue what happened with that). Unfortunately, that article is lacking pictures…
